Center Joel Embiid had a fantastic year with the Philadelphia 76ers and has continued to show that he is one of the best players in the league. He is clearly the face of the 76ers right now, though his future with the team has recently been thrown into question due to some recent comments.

We saw Joel Embiid speak out recently about him being focused on winning a championship, whether it is with the 76ers or otherwise. That has led to a lot of speculation about his future. Daryl Morey recently spoke out about Embiid’s comments, noting that the superstar was referring to the business nature of the NBA.

“He [Joel Embiid] and I spoke…he wants to win here, he wants to win it for Philly. That’s the only place he wants to win. He absolutely was referencing the fact that it is not totally in his control where he is at all times.”

There is no doubt that the business of the NBA is unpredictable, and it is quite possible that Joel Embiid will be traded at some point in the future. However, in the short term, it is highly unlikely that he will be moved.

During the 2022-23 regular, Joel Embiid averaged 33.1 PPG, 10.2 RPG, and 4.2 APG for the Philadelphia 76ers. He is one of the best scorers in the league, and the main thing that is missing from his resume is a championship.

Joel Embiid Wants To Stay With The Philadelphia 76ers For His Whole Career

Joel Embiid is known as a loyal player, and he has only played for the Philadelphia 76ers in his career. Recently, it was reported that Embiid would prefer to stay with the team for the rest of his career.

“As for the question of whether Embiid might be trying to leave Philly anytime soon, a high-ranking Sixers source told The Athletic that Embiid or his representatives have not shared any such message with the team. In fact, the organization’s belief remains that Embiid would love to go the way of Dirk Nowitzki or Kobe Bryant and stay with one team for his entire career (via The Athletic).”

It remains to be seen whether Joel Embiid’s wish will potentially come true. Hopefully, we do see him retire with the 76ers, and it is fair to say that the center is already a franchise legend.
