The NBA has always been filled with interesting characters, the players that make it to the top need to be a little crazy to get there. Michael Jordan was obsessively competitive, and prime Charles Barkley was a hot head, but no legend comes as close to being a wildcard as Dennis Rodman. Throughout his very successful NBA career, the Worm was a wildcat off the court, nobody could ever be able to tell what he would do next.
And while some of the things he did are almost inexplicable, like announcing he would marry himself, other aspects of his life were more normal. Rodman loved to party, and considering that he was always dating various celebrities, he was frequently out at clubs and bars.
NBA sports science has come a long way, players now adhere to strict regimes and rules in their endeavor to stay at the top. This means strict diets, regimented workouts, and every aspect of their lives is carefully planned. But that would never have worked for Rodman, who by his admission, lived a wild life even while he was still competing at the highest level.
Dennis Rodman Shared How He Would Go To Strip Clubs, Drink A Lot Of Jagermeister, And Sleep At 5’O Clock During His Playing Days
Even in the 90s, working out and conditioning was important, but that didn’t seem to stop Dennis Rodman often. In a clip from an interview that has gone viral again, Rodman detailed his old lifestyle, and it’s almost hard to wrap one’s head around.

“Ride the bicycle, workout after the game. Get to a steakhouse then go to a club. Strip club first, then a bar. Then go have about 10, 15, 20, 30 shots of Jagermeister, coolest light. Then go home about 5’O clock in the morning, get up at 9:30, go to practice, work out, do my job, and do it all over again the next day.”
Considering the toll that copious amounts of alcohol can take on the body, it almost defies science that Rodman was able to perform like he did while living like this. His wild youth has taken its toll on him a little as he has gotten older, and it’s no surprise considering that he was getting about 4 hours of sleep a day. Ultimately, there is something to be said about Rodman’s body that it was able to survive this lifestyle, and it serves as a reminder that he is one of the NBA’s most unique stars ever.
