After clips went viral of Shaquille O’Neal talking down Devin Booker’s signature kicks, the Suns star himself took to social media in response. In a short but brutal message, he called out Shaq and put him on blast for being so critical.

“A.I. question was cool,” Booker wrote on his IG story. “But nobody wearing no damn Shaq’s!”

The quote is a direct response to O’Neal’s earlier comments when he “recruited” Booker to try and join Reebok. According to Shaq, only he and A.I. (Allen Iverson) can give Booker the kind of kick she deserves.

“Everybody was bashing him about his shoe and it was like if you want a good shoe, holler at me and A.I. I wasn’t trying to be funny, we don’t do crazy things,” said Shaq. “But everybody was saying his shoe, and he was saying he wasn’t happy… so if you wanna be happy and you want a good shoe, holla at Shaq and AI.”

The first line of Booker’s shoes came out last year and fans were not feeling them at all. With an extremely simplistic and uninspired design, people were quick to criticize the kicks and it became a laughing stock on social media. Eventually, even Booker himself admitted that he wasn’t happy with the results.

Clearly, the Suns star cares little for what Shaq has to say and he’s not going to be joining Reebok anytime soon. You can’t blame Shaq for trying though and if he keeps pushing like this, it’s only a matter of time before he and A.I. build up a star-studded roster.

Can Devin Booker Lead The Suns To The Finals?

Arguably, the best selling point for Devin Booker’s shoes is a deep playoff run with the Phoenix Suns. So far, the closest he’s come is the 2021 NBA Finals, when they lost to the Milwaukee Bucks after going up 2-0 in the series.

After trading Chris Paul and Mikal Bridges for Kevin Durant and others, the Suns have re-made their identity around top-end talent, and they were hoping it’d be enough to produce a massive victory in the postseason.

But after encountering the Nuggets in the second round, the Suns were hopelessly outmatched and there are major doubts that they have enough depth to come out of the West.

This season, with averages of 27.5 points, 6.8 assists, and 4.6 rebounds per game on 49.4% shooting, Devin continues to be the beacon of hope in Phoenix, and his play alone gives them a chance to beat any team in the West. Nobody can truly count them out alongside a healthy Kevin Durant.

But at just 6th in the standings so far, the Suns aren’t where they wanted to be in the Western Conference and now they face the possibility of a first-round matchup against the red-hot New Orleans Pelicans, who can give Booker a true run for his money.

Whether it’s on the court or in the world of footwear, Devin Booker is a winner by nature and he’s going to find ways to succeed in any situation. Now, it’s up to him to close the deal when it matters most and prove that he’s among the best players in the world right now.
