Kobe Bryant and Diego Maradona are two of the greatest athletes in their respective sports. They have more in common than people think, including the terrible fact that they left this world this year. Something curious about these two was the mutual admiration they had for one another and they never hesitated to give flowers to each other.

When Kobe retired, Maradona sent a message to the Black Mamba, thanking him for all the things he did for the game of basketball after a majestic 20-year career with the Los Angeles Lakers.

“Thanks for the magic,” Maradona told Kobe in 2016.

A couple of years ago, Kobe actually revealed Diego was his idol, remembering he used to watch his games with Napoli when he was a kid in Italy.

“Maradona is my idol. I love Maradona. When I was young in Italy, I used to always watch Maradona when he played for Napoli,” Kobe said on Diego.

Last January, when Kobe lost his life in a fatal helicopter crash, Diego took to Instagram to send a message to the Bryant family, paying his respect to Kobe.
