Amid the certification of the U.S. election results, pro-Trump protesters stormed the capitol, forcing an evacuation, vandalizing the building, and resulting in at least one death.
Needless to say, it has been a wild night for the country, and reactions from people of all aisles have been pouring in for the past few hours.
On the NBA scene, Sixers coach Doc Rivers was the latest to speak out on all the chaos, going viral for his rather bold statements on the matter…
“I will say it, because I don’t think a lot of people want to. Can you imagine today, if those were all black people storming the Capitol, and what would have happened? That, to me, is a picture that’s worth a thousand words for all of us to see.”

Doc Rivers is certainly no politician, but his stance (and that of much of the NBA community’s) is no surprise here.
The racial implications of what happened at the Capitol today has been a recurring theme throughout social media. During the Black Lives Matter protests, many would argue that law enforcement took a much more aggressive approach than they did with the pro-Trump protesters today.
No matter your opinions on the matter, the building has been taken back under control — so some degree of appreciation certainly seems appropriate here.
Still, it doesn’t mean there aren’t some fundamental issues with the American status quo.
