Rudy Gobert earned a lot of criticism and bad comments towards him after his actions of touching every mic in front of him during a press conference. Gobert broke the NBA’s protocol to protect the players from getting infected by COVID-19.
The French player was diagnosed with the illness before a game between the Jazz and the Thunder, leading the league to suspend the season. After that, we learned that Donovan Mitchell, Rudy’s teammate, also tested positive for the coronavirus, which raised more bad comments to Gobert and his irresponsible behavior.
Now, however, things seem to be better between the two teammates, as Donovan revealed on ABC’s ‘Good Morning America’. While he revealed he hasn’t felt any symptom, Mitchell asked people to remain home and try to avoid contact with other people. Moreover, he explained it wasn’t easy to forgive what Rudy did, but stating he was happy they did the right thing after being diagnosed.

“I can walk down the street; if it wasn’t public knowledge that I was sick, you wouldn’t know it,” Mitchell said. “That’s the scariest part about this virus, is that you may seem fine, be fine, and you may never know who you may be talking to, and who they’re going home to.”
When (Robin] Roberts asked Mitchell if he’d had any contact with the Frenchman, the guard was measured in his response, which was as notable for what it did not say as for what it did.
“It took a while for me to kind of cool off,” Mitchell said.
“I read what he said and I heard what he said. I’m glad he’s doing OK, I’m glad I’m doing well. I’m just happy, to be honest — I hate to say that it’s two of us — but that it wasn’t the whole [Jazz traveling] party. At the end of the day, neither him nor I have children at home — I have some teammates that have children, some staff that have children at home. So I’m glad that we were able to contain it as much as possible.”
It’s not crazy to say Gobert’s actions were careless; luckily, the Jazz and the league made the right decisions. The season is suspended until further notice, but the most important thing here is to preserve the life of the players, staff and fans.
