In a postgame press conference following the Golden State Warriors’ overtime loss to the Atlanta Hawks, Draymond Green revealed a humorous yet puzzling interaction with a referee.

“I had a referee tell me all contact to the head ain’t a foul. That was an interesting one tonight.”

The incident occurred during the second quarter of the game when the Warriors’ star player, Stephen Curry, attempted a contested layup. As Curry went for the rebound, Atlanta center Clint Capela seemingly made contact with Curry’s head, causing him to fall to the ground.

Green’s revelation added a light-hearted touch to the postgame discussion, highlighting the often perplexing nature of referees’ decisions on the court.

The context of the conversation between Green and the referee, Sean Corbin, unfolded during a timeout called by Warriors coach Steve Kerr. Despite the potential frustration of the non-call on the play involving Curry, Green managed to keep his composure, avoiding a scenario where he might have earned a technical foul, as witnessed in the past.

This incident came on the heels of Kerr receiving a technical foul in a previous game for arguing with referees after a similar situation where Curry was hit on the head without a foul being called. Green’s ability to keep his cool during the exchange with Corbin reflected a more composed demeanor since his return from an indefinite NBA suspension on January 15.

In the game against the Hawks, Green contributed seven points, eight assists, and six rebounds, finishing with a minus-7 in the loss. Despite the defeat, Green’s humorous recounting of the referee’s unusual stance added a light moment to the press conference, showcasing his ability to navigate such situations with a sense of humor and composure.

Stephen Curry’s 60-Point Night Isn’t Enough For The Warriors

In a spectacular display of individual brilliance, Stephen Curry ignited the court with a season-high 60 points during the Golden State Warriors‘ overtime clash with the Atlanta Hawks. Despite Curry’s outstanding performance, the Warriors fell short, succumbing to a 141-134 defeat in a game marked by intense back-and-forth exchanges.

Curry’s 60-point eruption, the second-highest total of his career, showcased his scoring prowess and highlighted his ability to elevate his game. The milestone placed him in rare company, joining Kobe Bryant as the only players to record a 60-point game at the age of 35 or older

However, the joy of this achievement was overshadowed by the Warriors’ frustrating season, as they now hold a 21-25 record and reside in the 12th position in the Western Conference.

In the fourth quarter, Curry stepped up with a 22-point surge, keeping the Warriors in contention. However, Atlanta’s Dejounte Murray’s late-game heroics forced the contest into overtime. Despite Curry’s additional eight points in the extra period, the Hawks secured an 11-point lead, ultimately proving insurmountable for the Warriors.

The Hawks, led by Trae Young’s 35 points, secured their victory in an entertaining and high-scoring affair. Curry’s scoring spree marked the sixth 60-point game of the season, a statistical rarity not witnessed in the NBA for over 60 years.

Despite the disappointment, Curry’s 60-point night added another chapter to his illustrious career, showcasing his enduring impact on the game of basketball. The Warriors now look ahead to their next challenge against the Brooklyn Nets, hoping to translate individual brilliance into team success.
