Draymond Green Explains Why The Los Angeles Clippers Will Be The Biggest Threat For The Golden State Warriors Next Season

The Golden State Warriors are at the pinnacle of the NBA once again after winning the 2022 NBA championship against the Boston Celtics. The team really had one of the most balanced rosters. With the veteran leadership of the fan-favorite trio of Stephen Curry, Klay Thompson and Draymond Green leading the likes of Andrew Wiggins and Jordan Poole, the Dubs were a scary team to run into.

It was no surprise to see the Warriors becoming easily the most consistent and dangerous team in the playoffs. While they fell into series deficits, it never seemed like the Dubs were out of it and always made a comeback to prove their doubters wrong.

While they might be rejoicing now, Curry and Co. know that the challenge to defend their title won’t get any easier. The likes of the Dallas Mavericks and Memphis Grizzlies might have been their closest challenge last season, but Draymond Green thinks another team might be the biggest competition for them in the Western Conference, the Los Angeles Clippers.

In a recent appearance at the JJ Reddick podcast, Green revealed why he thinks that the Clippers might be their toughest opponents next season.

“Ty Lue is arguably one of the best coaches in the NBA arguably the best.. and then they have great players, Kawhi Leonard and Paul George… The guys that they are filling in with… Robert Covington and Norman Powell, already have Marcus Morris there and Reggie Jackson, they are a real threat.. that’s a real threat and a problem.”

The 2017 DPOY certainly hasn’t missed a mark in his description of the Clippers. LAC has a scary duo of superstars in Kawhi and PG13 who are lethal scorers and can lock up top players as well. Their supporting cast containing the likes of Reggie Jackson, and Norman Powell, isn’t shabby either, showing immense scoring potential at times.

And finally, their coach Ty Lue has been simply brilliant in the two seasons he has led the team. Be it leading a team without George and Leonard to a 9th place finish or be it coming mighty close to reaching the finals in 2021, Lue has showcased why he is one of the best coaches in the league.

If the Clippers can keep their superstars fit throughout next season, there is no doubt that LAC might be the biggest obstacle to the Warriors in the Western Conference next season.
