Draymond Green is one of the most successful players in the NBA today. Green is a 3-time NBA champion, a former All-Star, and a former Defensive Player Of The Year. Green knows a few things about success, and actually had some advice to give to future legends who would have their jerseys retired.

Draymond Green took to Twitter to tell future players who would have their jerseys retired to wear a suit to their ceremony. While Green himself isn’t a big fan of suits, he did not that those pictures from the ceremony will last forever, and wearing a suit is the best way to ensure that those pictures aren’t ridiculed in the years that follow.

I’m not a big suit and tie guy. Wearing a suit doesn’t make you smart nor does it mean you are a good business person. But… To all the young brothers out there getting their jerseys retired, dress yourself up. Those pics will live forever! That brand you’re wearing WONT!

Green will probably be taking his own advice down the line. Given everything he has achieved with the Golden State Warriors, one can expect Green’s #23 jersey to be retired a few years after he calls time on his career. Green has been one of the most important players in the history of the Golden State Warriors.

Between 2015 and 2019, Green was a pivotal part of the Warriors dynasty that went to 5 NBA Finals and won 3 NBA championships. Even Iman Shumpert, a player who faced off against Green in the Finals, doesn’t think he and the Cavs would have won Game 6 of the 2016 NBA Finals if Draymond Green wasn’t suspended.

Green’s advice comes days after Dirk Nowitzki’s jersey retirement. Dirk himself wore an elegant suit, so the comments are hardly directed at him. But Green wants to warn players who go on to have their jersey put up in the rafters by an NBA team.
