Draymond Green recently opened up on Kevin Durant’s tenure with the Golden State Warriors and subsequent exit from the team.

Green explained that the whole tenure was a challenge, but a superstar like Stephen Curry knew how to adapt to that situation, although KD’s exit was a ‘slap in the face.’

“There’s always things you want to prove. Ultimately, when Kevin came here, the main person who has to sign off on that is Steph. So, to open your door, to open your arms and accept someone with open arms, and it goes great and it’s short-lived, it’s a slap in the face,” Green said to Vincent Goodwill of “Yahoo Sports.”

“Not necessarily a slap in the face, when someone chooses to do something else. But a slap in the face like, ‘I opened my home to you. I brought you into this. I made you a part of this. I wanted you to be a part of this until we couldn’t do it no more. Then when you wanna do something else.’ No hard feelings, no ill will, want you to do great no matter what. It’s a brotherhood.”

A lot has been said about KD’s time with the Warriors, with some claiming he was jealous of Steph. Others say Durant’s never moved on from his spat with Green during a 2018 game.

The now Phoenix Suns superstar has made it clear he has a lot of love and respect for his former team, and he doesn’t have anything bad to say about them. Durant knew that move would grant him plenty of criticism, but he was willing to live with that, and time proved him right, as he won two NBA championships in three trips to the Finals.

Kevin Durant Could Face Warriors In A Potential Western Conference Finals

After four years with the Brooklyn Nets, KD found his way to Phoenix, building another superteam with Devin Booker and Chris Paul. They already got rid of the Los Angeles Clippers and will try to do the same with the Denver Nuggets.

If they get past Nikola Jokic, Jamal Murray, and co., the Suns could clash with the Warriors in the 2023 Western Conference Finals. This would be a duel for the ages, especially knowing the history between Durant and the Dubs and the fact that everybody hoped to see these two teams clash in the 2022 WCF.

The Suns are considered championship favorites by a lot of people, and it would be poetic if they reach that goal by getting past the defending champions. It’s still early to say this will happen, but it seems like we could see this incredible duel in the WCF.
