When it’s all said and done, the current era of the Golden State Warriors will forever be remembered as the golden time of the franchise. After winning three NBA Championships in five consecutive Finals appearances, most people believed the GSW dynasty was over.
It was the aftermath of the organization losing Kevin Durant in free agency. Which was followed by Klay Thompson being sidelined for two seasons due to injury. However, coming into the 2021-22 NBA season, there was some positivity around the team’s goals.
In fact, the Warriors were considered one of the title contenders, but not the favorites by any means. This led to other teams somewhat underestimating the true power of the Warriors dynasty.
The showcase of that fire was put on during the 2022 postseason. The Dubs not only won the Western Conference Finals but also are the favorites to win the title. Stephen Curry, who became the first player ever to win the Magic Johnson Western Conference Finals MVP, deserves a huge chunk of credit for this successful season so far.
Seeing how the Dubs have played so far made fans quickly change the narrative around the team. Now, people are claiming that the Warriors have laid down the foundations for another dynasty.
Well, Warriors superstar Draymond Green seems to disagree with this narrative. As he believes that the dynasty was never over.
(Starts at 10:05):
“I’m going to tell you going to these NBA Finals and possibly winning a championship. I think it only helps, but the dynasty was intact before this. Like this doesn’t stamp the dynasty, the dynasty been stamped and it’s just continuing to get better and better. But by no means does this stamp Steph Curry or Klay Thompson or myself or whoever. We’ve been doing this and yes, it’s great to be back in this position. But I know people be needing stuff to talk about, but this doesn’t decide or you know like all of a sudden now like ‘Oh yeah this is a dynasty,’ nah stop it. We’ve been a dynasty, and so I also wanted to acknowledge that.”
As Dray explained very clearly, the Warriors coming back to full strength after two seasons riddled with injuries and making it all the way to the finals speaks volumes about their skills and abilities.
In fact, just the return of Klay Thompson made the team look like a dynasty again. But once again, as Green explained, the dynasty was never over. We think the best way to explain it would be that the Dubs were on a short hiatus from advancing to the NBA Finals.
