Forward Draymond Green has recently been in the news cycle, due to his revealing new information about the Jordan Poole incident. That has led to the forward receiving a lot of criticism, particularly about his leadership.
Amidst all the noise, there was a recent revelation that doesn’t necessarily paint Draymond Green in the best light as a leader. Warriors insider Monte Poole revealed that Green has no relationship with young forward Jonathan Kuminga, which is clearly a “problem” for the team.
"[Draymond Green & Jonathan Kuminga's non-relationship] is a problem and it can only be fixed by Draymond. The new contract implies the Warriors believe he can fix it, but around the league there are a lot of people saying 'I don't know.'"

It is unfortunate that Draymond Green has no relationship with Jonathan Kuminga. That is something that Green will have to change if he is to try and mentor Kuminga, and it’ll be interesting to see if the two do develop some sort of relationship throughout next season.
Draymond Green Thinks Chris Paul Can Unlock Jonathan Kuminga
Even though Draymond Green doesn’t really have a relationship with Jonathan Kuminga, it seems as though he believes Kuminga can have a big year for the Golden State Warriors. In fact, he previously claimed that Jonathan Kuminga can get “unlocked” by new Warriors guard Chris Paul.
“I think Chris Paul will completely unlock Jonathan Kuminga in his growth. Deandre Ayton looked like a bust before CP3 came to Phoenix. No disrespect to Ayton, but more of a nod to CP. What he would do for Jonathan Kuminga and unlocking him is huge.”
It will be interesting to see how Chris Paul and Jonathan Kuminga will end up fitting on the court. Paul’s playmaking could get Kuminga a lot of easy looks at the rim, and adding a veteran mentor like Paul to the team means that Kuminga can also learn from him and pick his brain about various basketball topics.
This past season, Jonathan Kuminga averaged 9.9 PPG, 3.4 RPG, and 1.7 APG for the Golden State Warriors, while shooting 37.0% from 3PT range. Kuminga definitely has high potential, and we’ll see what sort of year he has next season.
