Draymond Green had a rather surprising reaction when he was asked about Dillon Brooks’ trash talk against him and the Golden State Warriors.
Brooks was vocal about his hate for the veteran and the defending champions, and on his part, Green was unperturbed as he laughed and “passed on the opportunity” to comment, per ESPN’s Tim Keown.
In his feature, Keown wrote: “Green, asked by a Warriors spokesperson for comment, laughed and chose to pass on the opportunity to respond.”
Brooks had unleashed a rant saying he didn’t like Green at all. “I don’t like Draymond at all. I just don’t like Golden State,” he had said.
“I don’t like anything to do with them,” Brooks said. “Draymond talks a lot. Gets away with a lot, too. His game is cool — with Golden State — but if you put him anywhere else, you’re not going to know who Draymond is. He plays with heart, plays hard, and knows the ins and outs of their defense. I guess that’s why they like him over there.”
There’s a history between both teams. And the bad blood that began during the playoffs last season hasn’t ceased and spilled over to this edition. And Brook was at the eye of the storm when he committed a flagrant foul that saw Gary Payton II break his elbow.
By the looks of it, Green will have his say at some point, but for now, it’s Brooks throwing down the gauntlet and making his feelings clear.
Dillon Brooks Has His Say On Stephen Curry As Well
Brooks may have given a fair bit of credit to Stephen Curry but didn’t miss the chance to call out on the illegal screens.
“He’s seen everything, the Grizzlies guard told ESPN. “Had all types of defenders guard him. Every play is for him, illegal screens every single night, but he’s one guy who is mentally strong when he plays against me.”
It’s worth noting that Golden State has garnered immense flak over the years for using illegal screens to get Curry open, and Brooks used the opportunity to call out the former MVP.
Even as Ja Morant continues to get bad press, Brooks has been busy at the other end dishing it out to the Warriors, while also continuing to engage with players from different teams. Only time will tell how the others feel about Brooks’ thoughts, given he’s a mean machine himself.
