Dwight Howard Signs 1-Year Deal With The Philadelphia 76ers

Lakers big man Dwight Howard reinvigorated his career this past season, providing a major spark for the team and setting the tone defensively for the second unit.

Dwight sent out a tweet just hours ago, seemingly committing to the Lakers long-term.

Unfortunately for the LA, Dwight will not be returning to the club, and has agreed to join the 76ers on a one-year deal.

After several dramatic and unsuccessful stints with several teams, Dwight was almost exiled from the NBA completely before this latest season in LA. He played hard and humble, staying within his role and always looking for ways to help the team.

In Philly, he’ll bring that same energy playing behind Joel Embiid. With Daryl Morey and Doc Rivers having charted a new direction for the franchise, the roster looks drastically different than it did months ago, and Howard is just another name they’ve brought in to try and turn things around.

As for LA, you can expect them to start their search for a replacement — which they should have no trouble finding, as the defending champs also happen to reside in the second-biggest market in the country. It will be interesting to see what their next move will be…
