Game 4 of the NBA Finals saw the Denver Nuggets jump out to a 3-1 lead after winning consecutive games in Miami against the Heat. The biggest moment from Game 4 came when former UFC Champion Conor McGregor knocked out Heat mascot Burnie in a playful skit which led to the mascot going to the ER to get treated.

Heat head coach Erik Spoelstra was asked about the Heat mascot being available for the next home game after taking the punch from Conor, which led to the Heat coach joking about his mascot’s toughness.

“That’s the Miami Heat toughness. He should have been allowed to take the first swing. We won’t reveal who that is but he’s tough, He’s not gonna miss any time.”

McGregor seemed quick to get his second win in a fight since 2016, otherwise losing three fights and one boxing match in the time period. Hopefully, we get to see the Heat mascot in action again but it’s dependent on the Heat’s ability to win Game 5 and bring the series back home for Game 6.

The Heat Running Out Of Fire

The run that the Heat have embarked on in the postseason has been incredible. They have already beaten the top two seeds in the East and can hang their hat on their accomplishments. But they want to win a title and for that, the team cannot afford another off-night like they had in Game 4

The team shot 32% from three in Game 4. Starting guards Max Strus and Gabe Vincent combined 1-10 from the field and 0–7 on 3s. At least the star duo of Jimmy Butler and Bam Adebayo did their part, with Butler scoring 25 points with seven rebounds and seven assists. Adebayo had 20 points and 11 rebounds, but the depth in Denver won out.

Miami cannot compete with the various weapons the Nuggets have to throw. Nikola Jokic and Jamal Murray have already been dominating but Game 4 saw Aaron Gordon step up and score a playoff-high 27 points to be the primary option on the night. The Nuggets are just one win away from their franchise’s first-ever NBA title.
