Former NBA Champion Explains Why Nikola Jokic Is The MVP: “Mind-Boggling Numbers…”

2 Min Read

The 2021 MVP race isn’t considered a close one by many. In fact, Nuggets big man Nikola Jokic, who has been healthy all year, is widely considered the runaway favorite.

In one episode of his podcast, former NBA Champion Andrew Bogut reaffirmed that stance, suggesting that the Joker is the “clear” number one.

“Jokic is the clear number one. I think the next bracket after that is Embiid, Giannis and Steph. I think LeBron and Embiid have missed too many games. If Embiid hadn’t missed games, I’d be comfortable putting him as a real MVP candidate (next) to Jokic right now. Jokic hasn’t missed a game.

He’s leading the league in PER. Mind-boggling numbers, but what’s even crazier is that he’s shooting 56% from the field, 40% from three, and 85% from the line.”

Jokic is doing it all for the Nuggets this season, whether it’s scoring, playmaking, defending, and rebounding. Near the top in most statistical categories, he’s racking up numbers at high efficiency, proving himself to be worthy of MVP honors.

The question now is, without Jamal Murray, how far can Jokic lead his team in the playoffs? If he continues at this pace, the sky is the limit, but it definitely won’t be an easy feat.
