Draymond Green had said before Game 2 of the Western Conference Finals against the Dallas Mavericks that he expected it to get more physical but not testy or nasty like the series against Memphis. Well, tempers flared during the second quarter of the game, as Davis Bertans and Damion Lee got tangled up.

With the Mavs leading by 10 midway through the second quarter, Jalen Brunson found Bertans in the corner and the Latvian drilled a 3-pointer despite some contact from Lee who was closing out. As Lee attempted to step over him, Bertans immediately tried to get up, which led to Lee tumbling down to the floor.

The incident took place right in front of the Mavs bench and the two exchanged some words as Lee was asked to step away by the referees. Draymond, however, had something to say to the Mavericks’ bench, and he had to be held back by the Warriors coaching staff as he risked getting ejected from the game.

Green had already picked up a technical earlier in the quarter and another one would have sent him to an early shower with the Warriors down double digits. Fortunately for them, nothing much came out of the incident except for double technicals for Bertans and Lee.

The Warriors, meanwhile, roared back from a 19-point deficit to win Game 2 in what was the third-largest deficit overturned in the playoffs in franchise history. They now take a 2-0 lead in this series and it would be a big shock if they don’t go on to win this from here on out. This was the chance for Dallas to steal a game on the road and they blew it with a pedestrian third-quarter performance in which they scored just 13 points. They will now head back home wondering what might have been.
