Giannis Antetokounmpo never had the chance to come to the US and play in college, but that’s something that never bothered him that much.

He still expresses his desire to have lived that experience at least one season and recently revealed the team he would have liked to play for.

“Definitely Duke. I like Duke because of the players that came out of that program. You usually see a lot of four men that don’t fit the mold. I think I’m one of those guys. I’m 6’11”, and I can handle the ball and pass the ball and get in the paint. You see a lot of people like that who came out of that program: Zion Williamson, Jabari Parker, Jayson Tatum, and Brandon Ingram. Not only are they very good basketball-wise, but academically it’s also a great school,” he said, via USA Today.

Duke is one of the premier schools when it comes to NBA talent. They are tied for the second-most first-round picks in NBA history, only trailing Kentucky and tying their archrivals, the University of North Carolina.

Other players like Kyrie Irving, Grant Hill, Paolo Banchero, Luol Deng, JJ Redick, Shane Battier, and more played for the Blue Devils, and Giannis becoming part of that group would have been incredible.

Giannis Antetokounmpo Only Received One College Offer During His Youth

Right now, Giannis is working on a campaign around the upcoming March Madness tournament, set to provide NIL deals to five college basketball walk-ons who need financial support to finish their college degrees.

This is a big opportunity for a lot of people. Even though Giannis didn’t have it, he’s more than happy to help as many people as he can. Talking about his beginnings and chances to play college basketball, Antetokounmpo revealed he only got one offer when he was 15.

Giannis is really a terrific basketball player, but a more incredible person. The Milwaukee Bucks superstar never hesitates to help others, and this campaign is the perfect example of that. While he’s in the race for the 2023 MVP award, the Milwaukee Bucks keep winning, and Antetokounmpo keeps trying to bring joy to other people’s lives.
