The Brooklyn Nets have gone from bad to really good, playing at the best level right now, and being one of the top teams not only in the Eastern Conference but the entire NBA. This team didn’t have the best start to the season but they have found their rhythm and now look like serious championship contenders.

After Steve Nash and the Nets agreed to part ways, Jacque Vaughn took over and completely changed this team, taking them on an 18-2 run and making them the 2nd best team in the East.

It wasn’t an easy job, but Vaughn knew how to manage this team and turned it around. He was met with a lot of praise, with Kevin Durant always saying big things about him and the way he brought this team back to life.

Jacque Vaughn Explains What Led To The Nets’ Incredible Turnaround

Vaughn recently talked about the team’s good situation, too, explaining what factors led to this good moment for the Nets. The head coach worked hard to reach this level and fortunately, his players listened to him.

“I think they’ve wrapped their heads around a few things: the professionalism that we ask of them, their approach to every single day, and the ability to have no built-in excuses,” the head coach said, via Erik Slater of ClutchPoints. “You show up, you do your job, you do it to the best of your ability, you reload, and you do it again the next day.

“That’s part of consistency. So those three things are a consistent part of our group: our approach, our mental toughness to win a game in the fourth quarter, our mental toughness to bounce back after a loss.”

They are playing without Kevin Durant right now and already lost their first game without KD, but the Nets can still compete against their rivals. Of course, they will need Kyrie Irving to step up, but more especially Ben Simmons, who hasn’t been that aggressive when going for buckets.

The Nets have also been mentioned in trade rumors as they try to improve their level. As long as they keep these three keys, Brooklyn will have a chance to compete and beat everybody, and Vaughn is well aware of that.
