Heat, Clippers, Mavericks, And Suns Are Interested In D’Angelo Russell

There are a lot of teams who want to add D'Angelo Russell.

D’Angelo Russell may no longer be an All-Star level player, but he is still a versatile offensive point guard that is capable of being a solid supplementary scorer and floor general. As of right now, D’Angelo Russell is averaging 17.6 PPG and 6.3 APG for the Minnesota Timberwolves.

At the end of this season, D’Angelo Russell will become a free agent and has thus commanded a lot of trade interest ahead of the February 9 deadline. A recent report from Eric Pincus of Bleacher Report revealed that the Heat, Suns, Mavericks, and Clippers are all possible landing spots for the point guard.

“I don’t think the Wolves reinvest in Russell,” a Western Conference executive said. “The combination of players they have just isn’t clicking.”

It’s unclear where he might land, though teams mentioned as possibilities by various NBA sources included the Heat, Suns, Mavericks and Clippers.

There is no doubt that all of these teams could potentially use a stable point guard like D’Angelo Russell. The Heat and Mavericks, in particular, need some help offensively. And we’ll see if any of them end up with the point guard’s services.

D’Angelo Russell Has Already Thrown Shade At The Timberwolves For Being Included In Trade Rumors

From the Minnesota Timberwolves’ perspective, it makes sense to try and explore trade options for D’Angelo Russell rather than lose him at the end of the season for nothing. However, the star has been unhappy about being included in trade rumors, even throwing shade at the team as a result.

“You either take advantage of me and my ability, or f*ck up the opportunity with me. It’s as simple as that.”

It is easy to see why D’Angelo Russell made the comment that he did, as being included in trade rumors can be hurtful on a personal level. With that being said, it is a well-known fact that the NBA is a business, and few players in the league are truly untouchable on the trade market. Some other Timberwolves players could also end up traded this year, and center Naz Reid has notably commanded interest from the Clippers and the Nuggets.

It remains to be seen what the Minnesota Timberwolves do ahead of the trade deadline. Their offseason move for Rudy Gobert has clearly not worked out the way they planned, and it is quite possible that changes could be on the way for the franchise.
