Herb Jones is one of the best perimeter defenders in the NBA, and it is clear that he is an important piece for the New Orleans Pelicans. He can guard multiple positions and is often willing to take the toughest defensive assignments on any given night.

It seems as though the New Orleans Pelicans have recognized the forward’s value. A recent report from Adrian Wojnarowski revealed that the team has signed him to a new four-year deal worth $54 million. They notably declined the team option on his deal earlier this offseason, paving the way for him to become a restricted free agent.

There is no doubt that this is a fantastic move for the Pelicans. He is a key part of their young core also featuring players like Zion Williamson, Brandon Ingram, Trey Murphy, and Jose Alvarado. With this deal, the Pelicans seem set to be one of the best teams in the future.

This past season with the New Orleans Pelicans, Herb Jones has averaged 9.8 PPG, 4.1 RPG, and 2.5 APG, while shooting 33.3% from 3PT range. If he manages to improve his 3PT shot, he will become one of the best 3 and D wings in the league, and it’ll be interesting to see how the forward develops.
