Betting on sports is something that has increased a lot over the last few years. But there are times when salty fans tend to target individual players over losing their money. Toronto Raptors’ Chris Boucher recently faced that issue.
In an interview with Yahoo Sports, Boucher shared the disgusting message he received from a sports bettor after the Raptors star failed to score 10 points in a game.
“The betting is not going to make it better now, with the parlays and all that,” Boucher said. “Man, I’m so over this. … Somebody said, ‘I chose the wrong slave today.’ Literally sent me that message. I had to read it, I couldn’t believe it. He said, ‘I chose the wrong slave,’ ’cause I only had 5 points, and he needed me to score 10.”

Bettors getting frustrated after losing money is understandable. However, sending such messages to NBA players is unacceptable.
At the end of the day, bettors are aware of the risks that they bear when betting on any aspect of the game of basketball. They should behave better than this and make sure not to hurt players by sending such stupid messages.
Kyrie Irving Believes Betting And Gambling Has Ruined The Purity Of The Game
Kyrie Irving is never afraid to speak his mind about anything related to basketball. Evidently, that’s the case with how gambling and betting have impacted the game.
A couple of weeks ago, Irving revealed he thinks betting and gambling have essentially ruined the purity of the game and have taken away the fun from it as well.
“Gambling and sports betting have completely taken the purity and the fun away from the game at times. I’m gonna just be honest with y’all… There’s a difference between being a diehard fan & supporting your team & loving your team vs. somebody that’s betting on a parlay or somebody that wants to hit… God dang, like this whole community of gamblers that are coming to the game of basketball.”
Kyrie’s thoughts reached the true fans of basketball as they agreed with the Dallas Mavericks superstar’s assessment.
While what Irving said is correct, it doesn’t seem like the NBA is doing anything right now to keep betting off the league. Hopefully, the NBA will take some action in the future to protect its players from getting disgusting messages from gamblers and bettors.
