Winning a Championship is the crowning achievement of any basketball career. While not every player gets to experience the taste of victory during their NBA tenure, it’s something that everyone aims for.

For Carmelo Anthony and Russell Westbrook, the glory of winning a Ring has so far eluded them, which makes for a rather glaring mark on their resume.

At 32 and 37, respectively, Westbrook and Melo are running out of time to capture that final piece of hardware.

Fortunately, the Lakers are giving them their best chance to win in years, and Fox Sports’ Nick Wright can’t help but anticipate the moment.

He followed up his statement with some more words on Twitter:

Melo is one of my favorite players ever. Russ is one of my favorite players ever. And now LeBron, my favorite player ever, gets to try to help them do the one thing they’ve never done: Win an NBA Championship. I can’t wait to see how it unfolds.

LeBron James is already a 4x Champion who has seen and done it all in the NBA.

But his last challenge, and perhaps his greatest of all, is winning another title at almost 37-years-old. Coming off a season of injury and tragedy, the Lakers didn’t get very far in their attempt to repeat as Champions this past season, suffering a first-round defeat at the hands of a young and inexperienced Suns squad.

In response, team President Rob Pelinka brought in Carmelo Anthony and Russell Westbrook, among others.

And while many doubts remain about what they each bring to the table at this stage of their careers, and ending with them holding up the Larry O’Brien would certainly be poetic.

In the end, it’s hard to say for certain what this next season will bring for the Lakers. Whether or not they are successful in bringing home the title, though, we can all agree that Russ and Melo deserve the ultimate success.
