Ime Udoka is set to start a new chapter in his career, now with the young and talented Houston Rockets. After having a very successful first season with the Boston Celtics, his tenure went to an abrupt end, which opened the door for Joe Mazzulla to take over.

Udoka starred in one of the biggest storylines of the 2022 NBA offseason, and almost one year later, some people want to get answers. The soon-to-be second-year coach opened up on his scandal, revealing that he can’t talk that much about the situation.

“They [the Rockets] did their due diligence on who I am as a person. We spent quality time getting to know each other,” he said, via Kelly Iko of The Athletic.

“I released a statement and apologized to the people I put in a tough position. I spent this last offseason working on myself and am a better person.”

Moreover, he revealed that he went to counseling with his son to learn more about the situation he put the kid in while claiming that he worked to become a better version of himself.

In case you didn’t know, Udoka was suspended by the Boston Celtics for having an affair with a female staffer. This situation ended his tenure with the C’s, his marriage, and the good reputation he earned during his rookie season as a head coach.

Ime Udoka Starts A New Chapter With The Houston Rockets

Now, Ime is ready to lead another young team to compete for big things. The Houston Rockets parted ways with Stephen Silas at the end of the 2022-23 regular season. The Texan squad has very good talent like Jalen Green, Kevin Porter Jr., and Jabari Smith Jr.

Besides this good group of players, Udoka could reunite with Jaylen Brown at Toyota Center. Things could be really good for them if they can make this happen, but the Rockets could also try to make a move for James Harden

The future could be very bright for this team, and having a coach like Udoka will surely help them. If they commit to his idea and are able to make the game plan work, the Rockets could soon be back as a competitive team in the Western Conference.

Let’s remember that in his first season as a head coach, Udoka took the Celtics to the NBA Finals, and he could turn things around next year, maybe aiming at a playoff spot.
