Tee Morant has tried his best to be an involved father in his son, Ja Morant’s life. People have criticized the poor mentorship of Tee over the last year for all the scandals Ja had. Now, Tee is trying to protect his son’s media reputation by reminding everyone that Ja never set out to be ‘the face of the NBA’, as his only focus is to win titles and nothing else.

“My son’s job is to try to win championships for the Memphis Grizzlies. Face of the league, that comes from other people’s opinions. Second, there have been a lot of faces of the league that have done way worse things than my son. So why is my son under the guillotine again? You cannot do this to me, you cannot double-standard me and talk about the face of the league. my son’s job is to help Memphis win as many games as he can, that’s it.”

Tee emphasized the fact that Ja has never claimed to be a role model or wanted the responsibilities that come along with being the face of the NBA, but now understands the impact he has on the lives of children around the world.

“I told my son, your only crime was a crime of humanity because so many kids look up to you. You don’t want to be the one where kids say ‘I did this because Ja did this’. The dumb griddy dance? They can do that all day. They can dye their hair. But if it’s something out of bounds, I don’t agree with it nor does he.”

Morant had an explosive return to the court, dropping 34 points in a 24-point comeback to beat the Pelicans with a buzzer-beater. You couldn’t have scripted a better return for Morant, who’s hoping to lead the Grizzlies into the postseason despite their 7-19 record.

Ja Morant Focused On The Court?

Tee Morant claims Ja wants to win championships for the city of Memphis, but his actions so far do indicate he likes the celebrity status he’s gotten from being the darling of the city. We’ve heard of his mother reportedly threatening regular employees around the city in Morant’s name, with many even believing she’s a bad influence on him. Similar things have been said about Tee, who’s officially on his son’s payroll to provide several services that seem pretty unnecessary.

There were genuine issues with Morant’s circle of friends, all of which caused distractions for Morant’s goal to win a title. His skill on the court is undeniable and sensational, but he has to take accountability for the Grizz currently being 7-19. He made the same mistake of flashing a gun for the second time, months after being warned by the NBA as well.

Ja has been dabbling in things that he doesn’t need to if his only goal was a title. Tee knows that, but can’t say it out loud. Hopefully, after everything that’s happened, Morant learns a lesson and puts all his energy into bringing the first-ever title to the city of Memphis.
