Ja Morant and the Memphis Grizzlies pulled off yet another comeback against the Minnesota Timberwolves to go up 3-2 in their first-round series. The Grizzlies were solid, especially Ja Morant, who was crucial in their win. Morant took over in the fourth quarter, including scoring the game-winner for Memphis. And it appears that he was agitated into taking over the game by Patrick Beverley and his taunting.

Patrick Beverley scored a basket while being guarded by Ja Morant, and then proceeded to make the ‘too small’ gesture at him while running back. After that, Ja Morant was able to score against Beverley and then proceeded to do the same gesture at him. In fact, after Beverley made the ‘too small’ gesture, Ja Morant went on to score 13 points in 4 minutes of the fourth quarter to help win Memphis the game.

Memphis will travel back to Minnesota for Game 6 against the Timberwolves. If Memphis plays at a high level, they will be able to win the game and move on to the second round of the playoffs, presumably to play against the Golden State Warriors, who are one win away from the second round. The Warriors will be a tough challenge for the Grizzlies, one that they will embrace given their record against them this year.

Ja Morant has established himself as the next big star in the league. Morant is now mentioned in the same breath as players like Luka Doncic, Jayson Tatum, Trae Young, and LaMelo Ball as the next crop of NBA superstars. Morant was an MVP candidate for much of this season and was recently named the NBA’s Most Improved Player, something he earned through his incredible jump in quality of play this year.

Morant is making a statement in these playoff series, and will be hoping to make a deep run.
