In a recent statement, Ja Morant’s agent issued a warning to the NBA on behalf of his top client. One season after a suspension and injury forced him to sit, the Grizzlies star is making strides toward a major comeback.

“Ja Morant is coming for all the work this year. All of it. How soon they forget,” said Mike Miller. “That’s all I’ll say: He’s about to come for it.”

Morant, 24, was drafted 2nd overall in 2019. The young point guard was known for his athleticism and his amazing versatility around the rim. After winning the Rookie of the Year in 2019-20 with 17.8 points per game, he proved himself as a star and a future leader for the Memphis Grizzlies. Eventually, Morant was named as a multiple-time All-Star, and his status as one the best in the league was undeniable.

With the Grizzlies winning so many games, it became clear that they were a major threat in the West, and Morant’s ascension to stardom ensured they could not be ignored by the NBA elites.

Between Ja, Desmond Bane, Steven Adams, and Jaren Jackson Jr., the Grizzlies became a dominant force in the West and looked to be on track for a major playoff run. Sadly, Morant disrupted everything with his scandalous activities off the court.

From aiming red laser pointers at players to threatening teenagers with threats of violence, Ja’s list of offenses stretches far and wide. But arguably among his most glaring sins was flaunting his guns on Instagram Live.

After flashing guns on two separate occasions, Morant was suspended from the NBA for 25 games. He was only back for a few days last season before he suffered an injury that took his entire season. The Grizzlies suffered without him and Morant’s name slowly faded into obscurity,

But now, with a summer to prepare and hone his game, Ja is gearing up for one of the biggest comebacks yet. As he sat home in recovery, he had plenty of time to hear people doubt and question not only his leadership but also his ability to effectively run his own team.

Until Ja goes out there and plays again, he won’t have the chance to respond but the only payback he needs is another elite season for the Grizzlies. With most of the same cast returning, plus a few new additions, the Grizzlies should be in play for a top-four seed next season, and Morant himself may even become a top MVP candidate.

More than anything else, the 24-year-old point guard will need to be on his best behavior to avoid any more controversies and stay on the floor for the entirety of the next campaign. After so much time off and a completely healthy body, next season could be the one that involves Morant getting revenge against all those who counted him out. At the very least, it will involve Morant setting the record straight after so many people forget who he is.

If he can take the Grizzlies to new heights next year, it will secure Morant’s place as one of the game’s top point guards and set him back on the path to stardom. The redemption story starts now for No. 12 and the results will change the league forever.
