Jalen Brunson gave fans some clues as to which Knicks player farted in the locker room before Game 5 of their series against the Pacers. On his and Josh Hart’s ‘Room Mates Show’ podcast, Brunson ruled out himself, Hart, Jericho Sims, and Julius Randle. He added that the player was 6’5 and black, before trying to call them on his podcast.

“I wasn’t in there for it… Josh, you can literally vouch for that. I was not there for it. I know who it was. I’m willing to talk, for the right price. Y’all want to know who it was? Come find me. I’m in Monaco… I can tell you who it wasn’t. Wasn’t me, wasn’t Jericho, wasn’t Josh, wasn’t Julius. I can say this person is above 6’5, this person is black… I’ll call him right now, I’m not sure I have his number saved. I’m a bad teammate man.”

The random fart actually played a role in the Knicks winning Game 5 against the Pacers, as it loosened up what was described as a tense atmosphere before the game. However, it wasn’t enough to help the Knicks win the series, as they lost in seven games to the Pacers and missed out on the chance to go to the Eastern Conference Finals for the first time since 2000.

The Knicks were plagued with injuries throughout their playoff run. They lost Julius Randle before the playoffs, and then injuries to Jalen Brunson, Josh Hart, and OG Anunoby among others left them severely hamstrung.

Against the Pacers, the Knicks were proverbially held together with duct tape and super glue. But the franchise can still be proud of the fight they put up despite injuries, and look forward to an even better run next year.

Can Jalen Brunson Lead The Knicks To Glory?

Jalen Brunson, without a doubt, proved that he is one of the elite players in the NBA during this season. He was considered a top-five MVP candidate this year, and helped lead the Knicks to the second seed in the Eastern Conference. And his big game performances against the 76ers and the Pacers showed that he is made for the high-pressure environment of the playoffs.

During the 2024 playoffs, Brunson averaged 32.4 points, 7.5 assists, and 3.3 rebounds. That is the second highest points-per-game in the 2024 playoffs, only behind Joel Embiid. What makes this stat more impressive for Brunson is that he played twice as many games as Joel Embiid, playing 13 games compared to Embiid’s 6 games.

Many insiders expect Jalen Brunson to take a slight pay cut with the Knicks, signing a 4-year, $156 million contract extension with them in the offseason. This might allow the Knicks to improve their roster, whether that be through free agency, or by trading some of their assets to land a win-now star.

Brunson has been the star the Knicks have been searching so many years for. And if they can build a contender around him, he could bring the Knicks their first championship in over 50 years.
