Jamal Crawford, a three-time Sixth Man of the Year winner, discussed Luka Doncic on ‘Bully Ball’ with Rachel Nichols, Isaiah Thomas, and DeMarcus Cousins. He praised Luka ahead of the 2024 NBA Finals where the Dallas Mavericks will face the Boston Celtics.

“Luka [Doncic] is a gangster. And I mean that in the most respectful way possible. Luka is really like that. These guys will tell you, we know in the league there are some real dogs and then there are dogs who are more like puppies. Luka is a real dog. The bigger the moment, the bigger the play, the better Luka is. Even some greats don’t do that.”

Crawford continued gushing about the Slovenian superstar.

“He’s different. He’s playing like he has headphones on. You can’t speed him up, he’s out there doing his thing. His pace makes you go at his pace and then he just dissects you. He’s something different.”

Doncic is averaging 28.8 points, 9.6 rebounds, and 8.8 assists this postseason, currently leading the Playoffs in multiple statistical categories. His statistical dominance over the NBA has become so commonplace that we forget how incredible these achievements are. If he can win a title at 25 years old against this Celtics roster, the sky is the limit for Doncic.

Crawford has been a longtime Doncic supporter, praising him and his teammate Kyrie Irving even when times were tough.

Jamal Crawford Called Luka And Kyrie The Most Skilled Backcourt Ever In October 2023

As the world has seen Doncic and Irving tear through the Western Conference based on the strength of their backcourt tandem, multiple people have started bringing their names up as one of the greatest backcourts in NBA history. When the season started, the same people were encouraging the Mavericks to break this duo up because they missed the Playoffs last season.

Crawford didn’t sell his stock on the Mavericks’ duo, proudly claiming they’re the most skilled backcourt in NBA history before this season even started.

“You can make an argument that these two are the most skilled backcourt players to ever play together. EVER.”

From a skill perspective, this was always inarguable, but the 2024 Playoffs have shown how their tandem can lead to winning at the highest level.

Irving is averaging 22.8 points, 3.9 rebounds, and 5.2 assists this postseason. While his overall scoring is down from the regular season (25.6 points), his defensive impact and activity have heavily increased. Irving scores when the team needs him to, remaining one of the best fourth-quarter scorers in the league.

The talent of Doncic and Irving alone can’t outpoint the Celtics’ borderline All-Star starting five, so this series will be fascinating with the results it may bring.
