Jamal Murray and Nikola Jokic had their fair share of doubters heading into the 2023 playoffs and the duo silenced them in some style.

Murray and Jokic led the way as the Denver Nuggets dominated their competition in the postseason to win their first-ever title. They have been hailed by some as the best duo now in basketball and Murray believes they are the most dominant and versatile one.

“If I’m shooting the pull-up three, the big has to be up,” Murray told Complex. “If they blitz me and I hit Joker in the pocket, now we’re playing four on three with the best passing center of all time. So I think just the levels to our game, the levels to the pick and roll, you know, I can set a screen for him. We got so many different options out of that. I think, I think we have the most versatile and dominant one-two punch in the league and that’s not a knock on anybody else. That’s just my belief in us and, what we can do and what we have done.”

Jokic and Murray certainly proved to be an unstoppable one-two punch in the playoffs.

The Joker averaged 30.0 PPG, 13.5 RPG, 9.5 APG, 1.1 SPG, and 1.0 BPG in the postseason in what was undoubtedly one of the greatest individual runs we have ever seen.

Murray, meanwhile, put up 26.1 PPG, 5.7 RPG, 7.1 APG, 1.5 SPG, and 0.3 BPG and Draymond Green believes he was just as dominant as Jokic was.

There really isn’t any argument against them being the most dominant duo at this point. Some of the other major contenders probably would be Kevin Durant-Devin Booker and LeBron James-Anthony Davis, but Jokic-Murray beat both those duos on their way to the title.

Kyle Lowry Compared The Nuggets Duo To Tim Duncan And Tony Parker

Kyle Lowry has been in the NBA for over a decade and a half at this point and he has seen some special duos in that time. When he was asked if he had faced a guard-big combo like the one the Nuggets have, he stated the only other ones would be Tim Duncan and Tony Parker.

Lowry added that Jokic and Murray are deadly as they both can score and pass the ball. It is perhaps what makes them unique among guard-big combos and it was a combination that Lowry and the Miami Heat weren’t able to handle in the Finals as they lost in five games.
