The Denver Nuggets are in the NBA Finals, and they currently have a 3-1 lead over the Miami Heat. They look likely to win the series, which would obviously get them the first championship in franchise history.

Obviously, a lot of the attention has been on two-time MVP Nikola Jokic, who looks certain to win the 2023 Finals MVP award. However, star point guard Jamal Murray has played a huge role in the team’s success as well. In fact recently, Draymond Green has claimed that Jamal Murray has been as dominant as Nikola Jokic in the playoffs.

“What’s proven to really be a huge issue is Jamal Murray… Earlier in the playoffs, he was like ‘How much do I have to do to get respect?’… When I saw that you can’t come out and say my respect, and then not follow up on the next game. The reason you’re not getting respect is people don’t think you’re consistently doing it… It’s now great game, great game, great game, one mediocre in there, right back to it… as much of a key to Denver being as dominant in the playoffs as Joker has been.”

There’s no doubt that Jamal Murray has been good, and he is showing why he is one of the best No. 2 options in the league. In the playoffs, Jamal Murray averaged 26.7 PPG, 5.5 RPG, and 7.1 APG.

However, it is also fair to say that Nikola Jokic has more impact on the Denver Nuggets overall. He is currently putting up 30.1 PPG, 13.3 RPG, and 9.8 APG for the team, and has clearly been dominating. Regardless, Jamal Murray and Nikola Jokic are an elite duo together, and they are showing that they can win at the highest level.

Draymond Green Believes The Denver Nuggets Have The Championship Locked Down

Even though the Miami Heat technically have a chance to come back from a 3-1 deficit, many believe that the Finals are effectively over. In fact, Draymond Green stated that the Denver Nuggets know they will be NBA champions.

“The Denver Nuggets know. They know. This is ours .. no disrespect to the Miami Heat, but this is ours. We’re NBA Champions. It’s just a date now, getting to the date when you can be NBA champions. I told you all before the series I had the Nuggets in five and I don’t see that changing. So, your 2022-2023 NBA Champions – Denver Nuggets.”

It is hard to see the Miami Heat come back in this series due to the talent disparity between the two teams. Simply, this series comes down to the fact that the Denver Nuggets have an MVP-level player and the Miami Heat don’t. However, we’ve seen improbable comebacks in the past, and until Game 5 is over, there is no victor in this series.
