Jamal Murray Says He Can Be The Best Player In The World

2 Min Read

Following an impressive playoff run to the Western Conference Finals, 23-year-old Jamal Murray says he’s striving to be the best player in the world.

““I knew I was going to be here but now my goal is to be the greatest. I wanna be the best player in the world… that’s my dream, my goal. That’s what I wanna accomplish. I knew I’ve always had the talent…. but to actually be here and actually have a chance at it, it gives me a lot of power. It gives me a lot of motivation.”

Murray and the Nuggets agreed to a five-year $170 million extension last summer that will keep him in town through the 2024-25 season. He has improved each of the last four seasons in Denver, going from 9.9 points per game to 18.5.

He and his running mate, Nikola Jokic, have led the Nuggets to prosperity for the past two seasons, most recently taking the team to 5 games against the Lakers in the Western Conference Finals.

While Murray is often overlooked to other guards like Steph Curry, Damian Lillard, and Kyrie Irving, his performance these past few years have proven it’s time he is included in their category.

Whether or not he can be “the best in the world” though, is still a matter up for debate.
