The Memphis Grizzlies faced a first-round exit in the 2023 NBA playoffs. It has allowed players to get an extended offseason.

Jaren Jackson Jr. decided to use this opportunity to make an appearance on ‘Podcast P with Paul George.’ During the entertaining episode, Jackson Jr. shared a story about when he was investigated by the FBI for pirating movies and shows during school.

“Back then, you had like, Pirate Bay, and you could look up movies and TV, and I downloaded like 20 movies and then went to school, came back, and my dad’s like, yo, they’re telling me – they called – the government or whoever called, and they’re like, bro, you can’t – because they track my files on my computer – and I’m like, ‘Oh, well, I guess I won’t do this no more.’

He added: “But like, it was funny my mom was pissed, but then she’s like, ‘Yo, let me get Scandal, season one.’ Like mom, you serious? I’m like, ‘Yo, look, you want Olivia Pope here? Disc season one, season two, season three.’ My mom was like, ‘Don’t do this no more.'”

In a way, it’s hilarious to think that the Memphis Grizzlies star was tracked down by the FBI for pirating movies and shows.

Fortunately, Jackson Jr. didn’t try to sell the content which he illegally downloaded. After all, he could have faced up to five years of jail time and fines of up to $250,000.

Jaren Jackson Jr. Believes The Memphis Grizzlies Will Have A Breakout Year Next Season

The Memphis Grizzlies underestimated the Los Angeles Lakers in the 2023 playoffs. It resulted in the second-seeded team getting eliminated in six games in the opening round of the postseason.

2023 Defensive Player of the Year winner Jaren Jackson Jr. believes the early exit humbled the Memphis Grizzlies, and they will have a breakout year next season.

“I think getting humbled was the best thing for us. I think it’s gonna make us way more hungry like we were three years ago when there was no expectation on anything. We got leveled at the end of the year. So, we gotta sit with that all summer. We were done in May. We’re gonna have that edge, we’re gonna come back, we’re gonna be hungry… We’re gonna get it done.”

It’s good that instead of getting demotivated by the defeat, the Grizzlies are planning to use it in a positive manner.

But it will be easier said than done amidst Ja Morant waiting for his punishment following a second gun-flashing incident.
