The Los Angeles Lakers made a number of solid moves this offseason, signing a multitude of players in free agency. One of the players they signed was Jaxson Hayes, a former lottery pick with top-tier athleticism and solid finishing ability.

It is well-known that centers generally thrive playing next to a playmaker like LeBron James. It seems as though Hayes is excited about potentially joining the Lakers, noting that he grew up “going to” watch LeBron James with the Cavaliers, and is excited about the opportunity.

“It is crazy because I grew up going to Cavs games all my life. It’s surreal playing with him. I’m really excited about that.”

There is no doubt that Jaxson Hayes still has some untapped potential, and perhaps LeBron James is the right veteran to help him unlock it. Hayes profiles as a solid rim runner, and perhaps he can play some center minutes during the regular season as Anthony Davis’ backup.

Last season with the New Orleans Pelicans, Jaxson Hayes averaged 5.0 PPG and 2.8 RPG, while shooting 55.1% from the field. The Lakers will be a fresh start for him, and hopefully, he does well next season.

The Los Angeles Lakers Have The Talent To Get Back To The Western Conference Finals

It is clear that the Los Angeles Lakers will be one of the more talented teams next season. In fact, Stephen A. Smith claimed that they can get back to the Western Conference Finals.

“I’m not going to doubt that [LeBron James] is going to be ready for the season… Keeping [Rui] Hachimura and Austin Reaves, that’s a big deal,” said Smith on First Take. “Acquiring Vincent, elevating your backcourt play. Do they need an additional big body, absolutely. But I think when you look at the fact that they walk into this season with a level of continuity as opposed to looking for it and searching for it by disrupting your team and making wholesale changes mid-way like they did this past season. I think that’s a plus. They accomplished what they accomplished playing 25 games together. [The Lakers] are good enough to get back to the [Conference Finals].”

We will see if the Los Angeles Lakers can win the championship next season. They will need a leap from at least one of their young players, and we’ll see what happens in the future.
