Jaylen Brown has become a controversial NBA player in recent years. The Boston Celtics star has been involved in some curious moments that raised many eyebrows around the association.

For tonight’s game, he will draw a lot of attention with his shoes. Brown will wear a pair of shoes that question if Dr. James Naismith actually invented the game of basketball.

Jaylen Brown's shoes

“Was it really Neismith?” One shoe reads.

Besides the typo in Naismith, Brown adds some elements of Mayan culture. One Twitter user explained that this could be in reference to a sport invented by the Mayans that some believe inspired basketball.

“The shoes have a typo, unfortunately. It’s meant so say “Was it really *Naismith” who invented the game of basketball? The Mayans pictured on the shoes are a reference to a sport they invented and played hundreds of years ago that some believe served as early inspiration.”

This is bold from Brown, as nobody else worried about it before, but he’s doing it now. Jaylen has gotten used to being involved in controversy, as he did when he signed with Donda Sports before parting ways with Kanye West’s sports agency amid big controversy for the rapper.

Jaylen Brown Rumored To Be On His Way Out Of Boston

Now, he’s involved in many rumors about the future of his career. Brown has made it clear he feels good about the Celtics, but rumors keep coming about his decision to stay or leave Boston.

Damian Lillard is reportedly interested in sharing touches with Brown, but that seems to be a long shot right now. If he decides to leave the Celtics, he won’t miss suitors for his services.

Some say Brown wants to be the No. 1 guy on a different team, and that could happen next season. Kendrick Perkins claims that Jaylen is showing all the signs that he wants out of the C’s, but the player keeps shutting down that notion.

As for now, he’s focused on Game 3 against the Atlanta Hawks. The Celtics have been too much to bear for the Hawks, but Trae Young and co. will try to get the first win of the series to at least extend it to a Game 5.
