Jayson Tatum just tried saving one of the most lackluster All-Star games in recent years. This year’s contest saw many top players get ruled out due to injury before and during the game. Along with other superstars like Luka Doncic and Nikola Jokic simply not trying to have strong performances, someone needed to step up and give the crowd the entertainment they deserve.

Jayson Tatum answered that call with a record-setting 55 points, the most in All-Star game history. He was crucial in Team Giannis ending Team LeBron’s winning streak of All-Star wins, with James now having a 5-1 record at the event.

While some fans criticized Tatum for stat-padding and taking advantage of the lack of defense that was being played, most level-headed fans recognized that Tatum just had a career-defining performance.

His duel with Jaylen Brown was arguably the most entertaining sequence of the game. In an MVP season, Tatum is proving to the world he has ascended and deserves to be put in the conversation of the best player in the league for the foreseeable future.

Will Jayson Tatum Bring A Championship To Boston?

Winning the All-Star Game MVP award is a decent accomplishment. Winning the regular-season MVP is a career-defining accomplishment. But winning a title and a Finals MVP is a legendary accomplishment that ensures Tatum is remembered as one of the all-time greats of the sport.

Kobe Bryant, Michael Jordan, LeBron James, and Giannis Antetokounmpo are greater examples of players that won everything that they could in terms of individual accomplishments. It seems Tatum might really be the next in line. This All-Star game performance shows he is on the right path, he just needs to deliver on the promise to bring the first title to Boston since 2008 this season.
