It’s been a tough year for Jayson Tatum and the Boston Celtics. The young star tested positive for COVID-19 earlier in the year and had to miss a couple of weeks while he was able to get back on track.
However, he’s repeatedly stated that he’s far from normal, claiming that he’s even running out of breath towards the end of some games, something that had never happened to him before.
Now, it seems like the disease continues to take a toll on his conditioning, as he recently admitted that he’s now forced to use an inhaler to open his lungs before every single game:
“I for sure feel better now than I did a month ago,” the young forward told Jared Weiss of The Athletic.
Jayson Tatum revealed he now has to take an inhaler to open up his lungs since he got COVID, something he has never had to do before.

Even despite this burden, Jayson Tatum is still putting up career numbers and leading the Boston Celtics to a playoff berth. His team, however, has struggled to find consistency and has dropped multiple winnable games vs. subpar opposition.
Some people started pointing fingers at Tatum for his team’s lack of success this season but that’s just not fair. He’s just getting started in the league and has shown great signs of improvement every single season.
Also, it’s clear that he’s still struggling to get by after recovering from COVID-19, and the virus has a different effect on everybody. Take Mo Bamba for instance, as he couldn’t go back to the court for several weeks after a short bout with the disease, and some athletes claim that they just can’t breathe the same way after their recovery.
Hopefully, Tatum, Bamba, and everybody who survived this terrible illness will suffer no further damage and go back to full strength rather sooner than later.
