Jerry West: ‘Luka Doncic Could Be A Top 5 Player Of All-Time’

2 Min Read

Luka Doncic is having a terrific second season in the NBA, racking up a lot of good comments towards him. Not only fans and media are praising him right now, but active and former players, who haven’t hesitated to show their admiration for the Slovenian player.

One of the latest to give his good words for Luka was NBA Hall of Famer, the “Logo” Jerry West, who was quick to put him in an exclusive list. Speaking to Jerry Sherrington of the Dallas Morning News, the Los Angeles Clippers executive actually dared to compare Doncic with Oscar Robertson because, saying the Mavs’ star was better than him because of his range.

“I would say no,” says West, who knows as well as anyone. “I bet Oscar never took a shot over 17, 19 feet. In that era, 17 feet was a long shot.”

West added Doncic isn’t at that level just yet, but he has the potential to become one of the best players this game has ever seen.

“I think that’s a reach now,” West said. “He could certainly be in the top five.

“Ask me that question in two years and we’ll see.”

Doncic has been terrific this season, taking the Dallas Mavericks to be one of the best teams in the Western Conference. Although his potential is huge, not a lot of people expected this type of season from the point guard. Right now he’s averaging 29.4 points, 9.7 rebounds, and 8.9 rebounds.

Luka is currently atop of All-Star game ballot with Bucks’ Giannis Antetoukounmpo. This guy is a complete sensation in the league and if he keeps playing the way he’s done so far, Jerry West’s words will become a reality.
