Joel Embiid has been named the NBA’s MVP for the 2022-23 season. It’s one of the biggest honors any player can receive in their career.

After missing out on winning the illustrious award for two consecutive seasons, Joel Embiid expressed that he no longer cared about it earlier this season. But now Embiid has backtracked on his comments and claimed he only made those to fool the reporters.

“I know I said I don’t care [about the MVP], but it was just for you guys to leave me alone.”

Joel Embiid said this with a smile on his face to make sure the reporters knew he was joking.

But was he truly joking? No one can tell. After all, Embiid has finally won the MVP award, and he can now bend the narrative as he sees fit.

Joel Embiid’s Emotional Message After Winning The MVP Award

Joel Embiid has been dominating the NBA over the last few years. But finally, having the MVP award in his trophy closet must be a completely different feeling.

Keeping that in mind, when he won the award, Embiid shared an inspirational message about his journey to this point.

“Everybody knows my story, kind of put it in perspective, about what I went through and what I was able to accomplish. I hope that people back home in Africa, in general, and in the whole world can kind of see… something they can also believe… Anything is really possible.”

Embiiid added: “For us Africans, we don’t have a lot of these opportunities. The probability of us making it here and let alone being an MVP, is probably negative zero. But improbable doesn’t mean impossible.”

Joel Embiid has definitely won the MVP award against all odds. Another thing that fans should not forget is the fact that Embiid started playing basketball at the age of 15.

Despite starting so late, Embiid didn’t let it stop him from not only reaching the NBA but becoming the best player in the world.
