Joel Embiid is one of the most successful NBA players of the modern generation, looking to secure his second MVP this season while making a deep playoff run. His on-court success has led to riches, whether it’s through contracts or brand deals. Another avenue for making money is real estate, and Embiid is reportedly selling a gorgeous $5.5 million mansion in Philadelphia.

The house is a duplex with two bedrooms and three bathrooms.

The amenities the house brings are quite incredible, with a private pool, hot tub, and outdoor kitchen.

The house is a Penthouse called 101 Walnut, in the regarded Society Hill neighborhood of Philadelphia. One of the key features of the house is unmatched privacy, something that an NBA star like Joel Embiid needed up until his recent decision to sell.

The biggest attraction is probably the 1000-square-foot rooftop that overlooks the heart of the city, with major tourist attractions like the Liberty Bell also visible.

Embiid purchased this home in 2018, after signing his rookie contract extension with the 76ers. He bought this home for $3.2 million, looking to now sell it for a tidy profit.

One of the issues that could have caused Embiid to sell this place is the fact that it has just two bedrooms while being a luxury home worth millions. In addition, the monthly payment to the Homeowner’s Association is incredibly high, as the 10 residents in this building have $3,800 monthly to maintain the property.

There are unique features for all residents in the building, including elevators that open up in the privacy of the user’s home along with a state-of-the-art security system and even a virtual doorman.

Joel Embiid Could Miss Out On Winning His Second MVP

Regardless of what happens with his house, it’s clear Embiid is committed to bringing a title to Philadelphia. His play has been sensational this season, with many hailing him as the current MVP favorite. He’s on course to win his third consecutive scoring title this season while leading the 76ers to one of the best records in the East. Given the 76ers traded James Harden away, it’s amazing to see them be as competitive despite not replacing last season’s assists leader.

Embiid has leveled up his game to such an extent that there are barely any flaws in how he plays. He’s averaging 34.8 points, 11.8 rebounds, and 6.2 assists. If he can keep these numbers up and lead the 76ers to a top-three seed, the MVP is his to claim. The issue that could keep him from winning is the NBA’s 65-game requirement for awards consideration. Embiid has missed seven games so far this season. He can only afford to miss 10 more from now until April if he wants to win MVP.

It’s likely Embiid has to forfeit his quest for another MVP towards the end of the season to avoid injury heading into the playoffs. But until we see that happen, Embiid will likely remain the favorite for the trophy, though Shai Gilgeous-Alexander is steadily growing his case for the award as well.
