Stephen Curry has posted terrific performances in the 2022 NBA Finals. Even when the Golden State Warriors lost matches, the Chef was there, cooking, trying to lead his team to the promised land. Nobody has been more consistent than him, which is why he leads the Finals MVP ladder right now.
Nobody has shown this level besides Steph, as every player on the Celtics roster has had ups and downs during the series, which is why even after losing two games, Steph is the clear-cut favorite to win the Finals MVP.
Curry has been so great so far that one analyst has claimed that he’s the rightful winner of the award, even if the Warriors end up losing the championship to the Celtics. During one of his recent articles, John Hollinger made a case for Steph as the winner of this prize regardless of the final outcome of the series.
And, to close it out, the other thing we can say at this point, is Steph Curry should be the NBA Finals MVP win or lose. He’s been that much better than everyone else. A losing player hasn’t won the award since Jerry West in 1969, but it’s hard to imagine a more clear case for breaking that half-century of tradition.
The Warriors have found a big challenge in the Celtics, but Curry has proven that he’s really a bad man. The point guard once again has shown his quality and he’s not planning to slow down. After a three-year absence from the Finals, they are ready to win it all again, and the Chef is giving his everything to reach that.
We might be seeing a seven-game series. It’ll depend on how Curry plays for the rest of the matchup to see if he can emulate what Jerry West did with the Los Angeles Lakers in 1969.
