The Golden State Warriors rotation has shrunk every game, as not every player on the roster has had the chance to take the court for the defending NBA champions.

Not everybody has risen to the occasion, and Steve Kerr is trying to keep things as good as possible. However, not everybody is happy with this decision, and Jonathan Kuminga has expressed it’s hard for him to get used to not playing as much as he did before.

“It’s still tough to lock in every single time. It’s still tough to smile every single time,” Kuminga said, via the San Francisco Chronicles. “But knowing where I’ve come from, seeing how many things that I’ve actually been through that a lot of people don’t know that got me to this point… I feel like throughout my career, throughout my life, I’ve never been given anything. I’ve seen so many people just get handed stuff. That’s never happened to me.

“When I was in high school I was definitely the No. 1 player, but it never got handed to me, I had to prove my point. … You can’t stop the sun from shining, and at some point, the sun is going to come out. That’s what keeps me ready every day.”

He remains hopeful that things can change soon, and perhaps he can have a big role in the second-round series against the Los Angeles Lakers. The Warriors lost game one after Jordan Poole missed a late 3-pointer that gave the win to the Lakers.

Kuminga, Poole, and others were reportedly unhappy when Steve Kerr decided to reduce their minutes against the Kings, and things haven’t changed for Kuminga.

Jordan Poole Seems To Be Frustrated With His Usage

Jordan Poole has touched on this situation, and even after his big blunder in Game 1, he seemingly shaded Steve Kerr for not giving him many minutes to play. The Warriors need everybody on the same page if they want to transcend in the 2023 NBA Playoffs.

They have a big opportunity to win Game 2 tonight against the Los Angeles Lakers, and everybody, including Kuminga, will be ready for it. The Dubs need to tie the series before going to Los Angeles, or the Lakers will have a big chance to sweep them at home and advance to the Western Conference Finals.
