Every team in the league wants to be like the Golden State Warriors. In a high-market city with a vibrant and team-first culture, the organization has really separated itself from the rest after developing a reputation as one of the best-run teams in the league.

For young stuff Jonathan Kuminga, he was lucky enough to inherit a place on the team after being drafted 7th overall in the 2021 draft.

In a recent interview with Dalton Johnson of NBC Sports Bay Area, the 19-year-old spoke about his first season with the team and which of the many moments throughout the year stand out to him the most.

“The best memory from my rookie year, I would say just winning a championship, man,” he told Dalton Johnson of NBC Sports Bay Area on the latest edition of Dubs Talk. “Cause I had a lot of ups and downs. There were days things was going my way, there were days things wasn’t going my way, but I went through it. At the end of the day, I can actually call myself a champion, so that’s the biggest memory.”

Kuminga wasn’t a huge part of the rotation, which is no surprise at all given how stacked the Warriors were last season.

But in 70 games played, he played pretty well off the bench, averaging 9.3 points, 3.3 rebounds, and 0.9 assists per game on 51% shooting. The season also ended with a championship, which many players go their whole careers without earning.

All-in-all, it was a solid showing for Kuminga — but what can we expect going forward? Because the Warriors are in desperate need of frontcourt depth, we can probably expect the young big man to take on a large role next season.

Beyond that, we’ll just have to wait and see.
