Jordan Poole On His New Nickname As A Splash Brother: “I’ve Heard Some Really Good Ones. Kid Splash Is Pretty Cool.”

2 Min Read

Jordan Poole has established himself as an emerging star this season, being instrumental in the Golden State Warriors run to the NBA Finals. Poole has become an extremely reliable scorer. He averaged over 18 points per game during the regular season and earned a few shouts for the Most Improved Player award as well.

Poole’s ability to score at all 3 levels makes him a potent offensive threat, and one that’s only going to get better with more experience. Even though his performance in the latter stages of the playoffs has left something to be desired, it’s evident that Poole is on his way to becoming a star in the NBA for years to come.

And all of that has earned him the honorary title of being the third ‘Splash Brother’ alongside Stephen Curry and Klay Thompson. Poole has a way to go before he can match up with the exploits of either of those two, but the comparisons are inevitable and not ones he seemingly minds. Poole recently spoke about his favorite nickname out of all of these.

“Every time I’m on the court I do feel that. In terms of the whole Splash Nephew, Splash Kid, Splash Brother thing, I just feel like I knew I was capable, and I had two really great players in front of me.

“I’ve heard some really good ones. Kid Splash is pretty cool.”

That’s a heavy nickname to bear and Poole will need to step it up if he doesn’t want it to become a burden more than an honor. The youngster has scored more than 15 points just twice in his last 7 playoff games, and those numbers will need to go up if the Warriors are to beat the Celtics in the Finals. If Poole can have one iconic performance, it would change the entire complexion of how he is perceived by fans.
