Kendrick Perkins Finally Appreciates MJ: “I Have Never Been So Proud Of Michael Jordan.”

As the world reflects on racial injustice, stars from all different settings have spoken up and out on the death of George Floyd and the nationwide protests that have resulted.

Michael Jordan recently issued his own statement, where he (and Jordan Brand) pledged $100 million over 10 years to support the black community. Kendrick Perkins recently expressed his feelings about Michael, not only because of his most recent donation but also for how he is using his position of power to be a voice for his people.

“Here he is, Michel Jordan, who has had a reputation of not being vocal or speaking out for the African American community — right now, he’s doing a great job, and for a man of power, it’s a difference between being popular and powerful, and Michael Jordan is powerful. Not only did he make a bold statement, but he put his money where his mouth is and he made a power move. You know, that had a lot of people that were calling out the owners and calling them out to speak on their behalf and what did Michael Jordan do as being the only African American majority owner?

He stood on the front lines and set the tone. So I couldn’t be more proud of Michael Jordan right now, the way that he’s stepped up for the African American culture and what he’s doing right now with his power is beyond beautiful.”

Jordan has donated to many causes and victims of tragedy, and though he’s been quiet in the past on social and political issues, it’s clear he’s got a heart for using his resources and platform to make a difference.

In this particular instance, with the black community calling on him to step up, he did not disappoint. Kudos to him for that.
