Stephen A. Smith gets a lot of respect for being one of the most viewed NBA analysts in basketball media today. SAS has some spicy takes, some takes that are based on sound logic, and then there are times when he gets found out for not knowing exactly what he’s talking about.

Something like that happened recently when the Twitter account B**lsack Sports pointed out Smith for using a satirical story they had created to make a point during a debate with Magic Johnson. It was a post that suggested that Kyrie Irving and James Harden had gotten into an altercation during a scrimmage where Kyrie called Harden washed, which is hilarious to imagine but also entirely made up.

Now, he’s not the first to fall for a story like that, there’s even a term for getting fooled by stories from this very account, but when you are as loud about your opinions as SAS is, people will ridicule you mercilessly when you get things wrong. He was subjected to some hilarious trolling on Twitter, and then one of Brooklyn’s superstars got involved too.

“Damn Steve. Got ya a**.”

Kevin Durant isn’t one to pull punches online and he has often criticized members of the media for taking their agendas against certain players too far. So obviously, now that Smith has committed such an obvious blunder, that too about KD’s team, Durant is within his rights to get a modicum of gleeful revenge on the man.

Sports media and players will likely never see eye-to-eye, the media exists to write about how and what the players are doing, while players tend to not take even valid or well-meaning criticism against them well. Having said that, it’s always funny to see them exchange some banter on a public platform, and hopefully, Stephen A. will learn something from this and start verifying the sources before he mentions something on the air during one of his famous rants next time.
