Damian Lillard is well and truly back, as he is making a mockery out of opposing defenses once again. Dame has missed some time this season, but when he has been on the court, he has been truly magical.

He is now averaging 28.3 PPG this season, which is the third-highest of his career, and the last few games have seen Dame at his devastating best. He scored 40 points against the Denver Nuggets and then followed it up with 36 against the Minnesota Timberwolves. The Timberwolves, unfortunately, had to play Dame twice in three days, and he was even better the second time, as he dropped 38 points on them.

Lillard made 11 three-pointers along the way and could have broken the record for most threes in a game, but he came off toward the end of the third quarter and didn’t check back in. Kevin Durant wasn’t happy seeing Lillard head to the bench and made his feelings clear on the matter on Twitter.

The Blazers were up 22 points heading into the fourth quarter, so it didn’t really make sense for them to keep Lillard in the game. He also had a collision with Kyle Anderson in the third quarter, which led to him having an ice pack on his thigh, so there was no way head coach Chauncey Billups was going to risk it. Klay Thompson is probably relieved that his record of 14 threes in a game still stands, but it probably is going to get broken someday soon, and Lillard might be the one to do it.

Damian Lillard Spoke On How Long He Would Play For The Trail Blazers

Dame has been very loyal to the Blazers and has somewhat been rewarded for it, as they have managed to put together a good team around him. Both Anfernee Simons and Jerami Grant are averaging over 20 PPG, while some of their other pieces are playing well too.

They’ll also get Gary Payton II back, which should help their defense a lot, and they are definitely trending in the right direction. Dame recently stated that he hopes to finish his career with the Blazers, and it would be great if that happens.
