Kevin Durant On His Future In Brooklyn: “I’m Settled…”

The Brooklyn Nets are going to be good for years to come.

Earlier this month, Kyrie Irving made a verbal commitment to stay on board, ensuring his long-term future with the franchise

To follow it up, Kevin Durant made his own commitment in a recent conversation with Logan Murdock of The Ringer. According to the 2x Champion, he has found his home.

Last August, Durant signed a four-year extension with the Nets that could keep him in Brooklyn until he’s 37. It’s his longest commitment to a team since he signed his rookie extension in OKC. When he signed, he says he felt an emotion he hadn’t felt in a while. Something that no title or accolade has provided in recent years.

“I’m settled,” he says. “It’s good to know that I don’t have to look over my shoulder and worry about the next season or the next two years. Just knowing that three or four years that I’m locked in, I can start living my life on and off the floor with a little bit more ease. It’s a good place to be in.

“We’re all going to evolve and change, no matter what,” he says. “I got a long way to go to keep evolving as a human being, but I like where I am at this point.”

Of course, Durant couldn’t just leave, even if he tried. He’s currently locked into a 4-year, $164.25M contract that won’t expire until 2026.

Still, he could force his way out like other players have done recently, including both of his co-stars, Ben Simmons and Kyrie Irving.

But now, he is getting the world now that he is just fine where he is.

This season, even amid all the craziness and drama, the Nets still have a chance to succeed. Kyrie Irving is a full-time player again, and right before the start of the postseason.

With the team finally seeing some peace and stability, they could be poised to surprise a lot of people this season.
