LeBron James is one of the most influential athletes in the world, and Kevin Garnett believes that the 38-year-old could even end the conflict between Israel and Hamas.

“Bron could probably stop the war right now if he wanted to,” Garnett said on The Ticket & The Truth podcast. “If Bron wanted to, ‘Man, y’all stop fighting. Y’all chill out man like chill.’ That’s how strong Bron is right now, If Bron actually got the facts of this whole thing, stood up, and like, ‘Yo, okay, look, let’s get a n**** some money. Everybody chill out, man. Here, everybody fall back. Man, bring that tequila out, man. Give everybody a shot.'”

This was such an odd thing to say for Garnett, no matter how you look at it. If he was saying this in jest, then this really isn’t the topic for that, with so many people having lost their lives. If the 47-year-old was serious, then he’s greatly overestimating LeBron’s influence.

There is absolutely nothing James can do to end this war once and for all, and really, there is no one person in this world who can do it. This is a conflict that has existed for decades and no matter what LeBron says, it’s not going to solve all the issues. I think Paul Pierce agreed, as he wasn’t really buying what Garnett was saying there.

NBA Fans Reacted To Kevin Garnett’s Comments

Garnett’s wild claims were inevitably going to go viral on social media. NBA fans reacted to them, with many disagreeing with him.

One rightly pointed out that this war is way bigger than LeBron

A fan says he wants what Garnett was smoking when he said it.

One individual thinks Garnett might be right.

One fan joked that LeBron can’t stop the player he is guarding on the court, let alone a war.

One bluntly said Hamas doesn’t care about what James has to say.

Hamas certainly wouldn’t care at all about what LeBron thinks. James has influence even when it comes to serious issues in the U.S., but certainly not in the Middle East. Another reason why the 19-time All-Star won’t be able to play peacemaker is because he has picked a side.

LeBron James Issued A Statement In Support Of Israel

A wide majority of U.S. citizens have certainly supported Israel in this conflict and James is no different. He did not speak on this topic immediately, but a few days in, LeBron issued a statement supporting Israel.

“The devastation in Israel is tragic and unacceptable. The murder and violence against innocent people by Hamas is terrorism. The SpringHill Company family sends our deepest condolences to Israel and the Jewish community. We pray for peace in the region and reiterate our continued commitment to fight hate in all its forms. We must work to ensure this tragedy does not spread even more hate, racism, and antisemitism.”

James has never shied away from speaking on such matters, so you knew he’d have something to say about it. He wishes for peace in the region, as do so many others, but that’s a lot easier said than done.

There have been calls for a cease-fire from humanitarian groups as well as the United Nations General Assembly, but Israel’s Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has rejected them. Netanyahu views them as calls for Israel to surrender to Hamas and terrorism, so he isn’t going to stop hostilities.
