Kevin Huerter has watched the 2002 Western Conference Championship Game 6 conspiracy theories.

The Sacramento Kings’ shooting guard was talking about the 2002 Western Conference finals, which were widely regarded as one of the best in league history, although it was marred by accusations of corruption, also making it one of the more controversial seasons in the NBA.

And Huerter, speaking on The Lowe Post Podcast, said he had watched the videos that had the conspiracy theories outlined.

“I’m still learning a lot about the history of the Kings. And so last night I went on YouTube and my direct search bar was Game 6 Kings Lakers conspiracy, and so I went on in there and there was a six-minute video of a guy talking about it, and whatever fouls calls were not called and the free throws. So I learned a little bit about that series and how it went down for possibly the best Kings team that the organization’s had.”

For those unaware, the attorney of NBA referee Tim Donaghy, who was convicted for betting on games, filed a court document stating that two referees wanted to extend the series to a Game 7 and that he knew that both were “company men” acting in the league’s interest.

The Finals featuring the Los Angeles Lakers and the Kings ended with the former winning Game 6 106-102 and going on to win the series 4-3. The document also said that officials would tell the referees on the sidelines to not call tech fouls on market players.

In the end, it was the Lakers who eventually prevailed and went on to win the NBA championship. Although, there was strong chatter that the Kings deserved to win the WCF.

Kevin Huerter’s Style Of Play Earned Him Lavish Praise From Kevin Durant

Kevin Huerter has been having a decent season averaging 15.9 points, 3.3 rebounds, and 2.9 assists. He’s been playing his part in the Kings’ impressive run thus far.

The team, buoyed by their superstar duo of De’Aaron Fox and Domantas Sabonis, is placed fifth in a stacked West with a 20-17 record. Huerter has been one of the impact players shooting 42.1% from downtown, and his style of play at the start of the season had Brooklyn Nets’ superstar Kevin Durant reserve some high praise.

Speaking on his podcast, Durant said:

“Kevin Huerter, right now, he playing like Klay, Steph. The way he coming off the handoffs and shooting the basketball right now. If you not a basketball fan and locked in on the league, you gotta watch how Kevin Huerter shooting this ball right now. He in the 50s. And when you hear all these stats, everybody just seem way better than what they are… But Kevin Huerter shooting like 7 threes a game, and they all at 50%. When you hear that and then you watch the clips and the shots he shooting, it’s like, ‘Oh sh*t, we in for a long night.'”

This is massive praise for Huerter who will be keen to see his team make the playoffs. The Kings have had an up-and-down run in their last five games and will be keen to get some momentum going when they take on the Los Angeles Lakers next.
